Most people are so thrilled after their first jump that they want to start taking sky diving lessons. These are readily available from schools, clubs and centers dedicated to this great sport. Use this guide to learn about the training programs, the cost and the licensure requirements.

Beginners usually need at least 10 sky diving lessons in order to learn everything necessary to make solo jumps. For the convenience of the sky divers and for achieving more effective results, the lessons are packaged in specifically designed programs. Most schools readily offer such programs. It is important that you find one that is accredited by the United States Parachuting Association (USPA). This guarantees that you will master all skills necessary for earning an USPA A license which allows you to make solo jumps anywhere in the US and in most countries around the globe.

What can you expect from sky diving lessons? The programs may vary slightly from one school to another, but they usually have the same structure. You will make one, two or three tandem jumps first. As you sky dive with an instructor, you will be able to learn how to keep your body in the right position, how to take the right direction, how to turn and how to monitor the altitude.

The following sky diving lessons include only accelerated freefall jumps. During these jumps, you have your own parachute. Two instructors exit the plane with you and hold onto your gear during the free fall. That way, they can show you more complex body maneuvers including turning at different angles, barrel rolls, flips and even back loops. Delta tracking is also part of the training. Once you deploy your parachute and the freefall is over, you will be on your own. You will descent and land by yourself while getting radio instructions from the instructor. You will master your parachute deployment, canopy control and landing skills.

The sky diving lessons are accompanied by extensive training on the ground. You will get familiar with aircraft, safety and emergency procedures. You will practice various maneuvers and canopy control with the use of various specifically designed pieces of training equipment.

A complete package of 10 sky diving lessons usually costs around $1,500. You should consider shopping around, but it is crucial that you sign up for an accredited course. That way, at the end of the program, you will be able to make a check jump with an USPA instructor and get your USPA A license.

Sky Diving Prices

You want to experience the thrill of flying in the sky, but you are still a practical person so you need to learn what sky diving prices are like. This guide aims to give you a general idea about the costs involved in jumping and taking up this sport as a hobby. The prices are averages so they may not correspond precisely to the rates in your local club.

The sky diving prices for first-timers are not small, as you can expect. The tandem jumps, which are by far the most popular, cost between $150 and $250 per jump, even though you may find ones that cost as little as $100 and as much as $275. The static line and instructor assisted deployment jumps are the cheapest. The cost per dive is between $100 and $200. In most cases, the rate does not exceed $125. The price is that low because the freefall lasts only one or two seconds and because the instructor provides directions via radio from the plane. He/She does not jump with you.

Accelerated freefall (AFF) jumps have the highest sky diving prices because you are actually accompanied by two instructors and have extensive training. The price per AFF dive is from $250 to $350 with most rates being closer to the lower end of the range. Since AFF jumps are usually done by those who want to learn how to dive solo, they are offered in packages. These programs typically include 10 dives with the price per program being around $1,500. You save considerably if you go for this option. You just have to be certain that you want to learn how to sky dive and enjoy it as a hobby in the future.

What do sky diving prices include? The standard rates presented here include the equipment necessary for the jump, the ground training and the entire onboard and possibly freefall instruction and the plane ride to the set altitude. If you have to be picked up by a land vehicle from the landing area, the cost of transportation is usually calculated in the price. Video and photography packages are available separately.

The prices for experienced divers who are approved for making solo jumps are much lower. The rate per solo jump is usually between $25 and $35. Equipment rental costs around $40 to $50 per jump and $90 to $100 per day.

Are there any discounts on sky diving prices? Yes, in fact, there are all sorts of discount. You can readily find weekday, cash payment and group discounts.

You should definitely collect and go over the most essential sky diving information before you decide to locate a drop zone and make your first jump. You have to know what to expect so that you can be psychologically and physically prepared. Parachuting is fun. By learning more about it, you will get peace of mind and enjoy the experience totally and completely.

How safe is sky diving?

This is an aerial adventure sport which involves jumping from a high altitude and making body maneuvers that allow you to fly, descent and land. It has some risks, but with the improvement in equipment and with more and more people gaining extensive experience, the safety record is constantly improving. You should expect to have a safe and enjoyable sky dive if you take all necessary safety measures and follow all rules regarding jumping, parachute deployment and landing.

What are the requirements for making a jump?

You must be at least 18 years old in order to enjoy this sport. This is an important piece of sky diving information to keep in mind. There are height and weight requirements as well. These are set individually by the drop zones so you have to check specifically. You must be in good health. Individuals with recent injuries, surgeries and/or chronic medical conditions must consult a physician before making jumps. Before you sky dive, you will be asked to sign a legal waiver.

What kinds of sky dives do beginners make?

Firs-timers are usually advised to make a tandem jump. You are attached to an instructor who will make the body flight maneuvers and deploy the parachute. Individuals who want to make solo jumps eventually undergo training which involves accelerated freefall dives. This is important sky diving information

What can you expect from the jump?

The jumps usually take place at an altitude between 12,500 and 14,500 feet. Your body will have a speed of 110 to 120 mph for about 60 seconds during the freefall. You will literally feel carried by the air. The parachute is usually deployed at an altitude of 5,000 feet. The canopy descent is slow and smooth. It takes about 5 to 7 minutes. You land on a specified grassy landing area.

How much does sky diving cost?

Jumps with an instructor usually cost between $100 and $350 per jump, depending on the kind of assistance and instruction that you get. The training, equipment and plane ride are included in the price. Complete training program packages are available at discounted prices.

For detailed sky diving information, you can contact a local drop zone.

Types of Sky Dives

Nothing can compare to sky dives. You literally feel as if you are flying during the freefall. You get to enjoy the serenity of the sky and the beauty of the scenery. It is natural to be a little scared if you are about to make your first jump. By learning more about the actual experience, you will gain more confidence. It is important to know your main jump options and to pick the most suitable one for you.

Tandem sky dives are the preferred option of most first-timers because they do not require any particular skills and knowledge. You simply jump together with an instructor that you are attached to. The instructor is responsible for opening the parachute and for managing the descent and the landing. Your job is to enjoy the experience. Of course you have to know how to position your body in the air and during the landing so you will undergo a short instruction session, usually around half an hour, before you go up in the sky and jump.

Tandem sky dives are recommended to individuals who want to enjoy the thrill, but want to have the peace of mind that all will go well. In fact, many centers and clubs offer only this option to first-timers. It usually costs between $150 and $250.

Accelerated freefall (AFF) sky dives involve the student and two instructors. You will have your own parachute. You will jump together with two instructors who will be by your side during the freefall. Usually, the instructors actually hold the student by the harness. You have to deploy your parachute and make a solo canopy descent. You will receive instructions via radio so you will know how to hold your body and how to control the parachute.

Before you make an AFF jump, you have to have around five to six hours of intensive ground instruction. You will lean the main body flight maneuvers and hand signals. Given that there is a lot more training involved and that there are two instructors that will help you, a typical AFF dive is more expensive than a tandem dive. The price is usually between $250 and $350.

Static-line and instructor assisted deployment (IAD) sky dives are also available. In both cases, the parachute is opened for the diver the moment he/she jumps off the plane. Basically, the freefall lasts for one or two seconds. You will have to make a solo descent while the instructor gives you directions via the radio. Such jumps are not particularly popular. This is one of the reasons why they are the least expensive costing between $100 and $200.

The popularity of wind tunnel sky diving has increased dramatically in recent years. There are a number of factors contributing to this. The activity is fun, inexpensive and quite safe. It does not have age restrictions. It is readily available in most cities. You should definitely learn more about it to decide whether it matches your interests and preferences.

Wind tunnel sky diving is exactly what it says it is. A wind is produced inside long large cylinder. It moves upwards at a velocity of around 120 mph. This is the velocity the average human body has during a freefall from in the sky. The air flow has enough force to keep you flying. Basically, during the dive you will experience the same thing as during a free fall. The feeling is simply amazing.

Wind tunnel diving is accessible to more people than traditional parachuting. While individuals under the age of 18 cannot participate in the real adventure sport, there are no age requirements for the indoor activity. Depending on the wind velocity the operator has set, people of all ages can enjoy the great flying experience. Height and weight requirements are set individually by each center so you have to check whether your kids can participate in the activity in advance.

Since during wind tunnel sky diving you have a safety net a few feel below you, you do not have to worry about falling and getting hurt. This is one thing that makes this activity preferred by people who are afraid of heights, but want to enjoy flying. In general, the risk of accidents and injuries during this activity is extremely low.

The facilities are subject to safety regulations and inspections so they should not pose any danger. Even if something happens and you do fall, you will be caught immediately by the flexible and super strong safety net. Furthermore, each participant is given a safety and body flight instruction before going in the tunnel. The activity does pose some pressure on the bones and joints, but it is minimal. Still, individuals with recent injuries and chronic problems should consult a doctor before participating.

You will not empty your pockets to pay for a wind tunnel sky diving session. One flight takes three minutes and costs around $40. The clothing, safety equipment and the instruction session are included in the price. You can have second three-minute flight which will cost you half the price of the first one.

Now you can decide whether wind tunnel sky diving is for you.

What’s So Great About the Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent Specifications?

Size: The generous size of this Coleman tent allows a family or group of friends to comfortably spend the night together. The floor space provides enough room for two queen-sized air mattresses, and the tall height of the tent means that even tall people can stand up comfortably. When the tent says it can fit six people, rest assured that it can do rather comfortably.

WeatherTec System: How many times have you gone camping and encountered less-than-favorable weather conditions? Since this is common on camping trips, the Coleman 6 Person Tent is prepared to handle even the windiest, rainiest conditions. Leak-free seams and zippers cover the doors and windows, weather-resistant fabric keeps everyone cool and dry, waterproof floors prevent rain damage and needle holes and the wind-strong frame features redesigned poles and guy-out triangles. All of these features work together to provide a tent that stands strong and blocks out rain.

credit:EtanSivad powered by:pictureplugin

coleman 6 person instant tent
.

Assembly: The setup and take down of this Coleman tent is hassle free, so you can expect to use this tent over and over again without the headache. The poles come preattached to the tent so there is no assembly or risk of losing important parts. All you have to do is unfold the tent, spread out the fabric, extend the poles and click and lock them into place. Within less than a minute you have the 6 Person Tent ready to go. And yes, your camping neighbors will be jealous!

Ventilation: The Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent has excellent ventilation. The windows are positioned high so that air circulates properly and blocks out the morning sun as it rises. You won’t be able to see out the windows while lying down, but most agree that this adds privacy while resting. The windows are large and found on all four sides and feature leak-free seams on the sides to prevent water from seeping through.

What’s Not So Great About the Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent Specifications?

Leaky: Despite the zippers and leak-free seams, this tent does let in leaks, especially in strong storms. Not only do leaks occur, but the consistent dripping can cause standing water to be left in the tent, certainly not something you want to come back to. The leaking is a major setback, and the only way to avoid this from happening is to ditch rainy and wet weather conditions or to bring along an inexpensive tarp for stormy weather. You may even find that this tent is more ideal for backyard camping endeavors where a dry home is right around the corner.

No Rain Fly: The Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent lacks a rain fly, which is considered to be a very practical and essential part of any tent these days. A rain fly would also help with the leaking that some owners have experienced while camping. To help with the problem, you can purchase a tarp or screen house to place over the tent, which some people have done in order to still take advantage of the instant set up and large design that makes this tent so favorable. Coleman does acknowledge the lack of a rain fly and states that because the design is fully taped, there is no need for one.

Is the Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent a Great Purchase?

The generous size, ease of setting up and taking down and innovative WeatherTec System make this tent a top-choice. The product is backed by Coleman, a leading manufacturer in state-of-the-art outdoor and camping supplies and also comes with a one-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Since there is some concern over the tent leaking, you will want to be prepared to handle these issues. It’s recommend that you spray the tent with a waterproofing agent and seam sealer from Coleman. The Coleman 6 Person Instant Tent is an excellent purchase for any individual or family that loves to go camping.

A major category of biking is known as downhill mountain biking. As its name suggests, it is the sport of riding a bike downhill. It is one of the most dangerous and edgy variations of mountain biking. This type of mountain-bike curtails daredevil jumps of up to twelve meters and drops of some three meters. Rough and dangerous trails all throughout is typical of this sport. Typically, this is finished in two to five minutes during international competitions.

The pioneering feat of downhill mountain biking occurred on October 22, 1976 in Repack Road, Fairfax, California. The event included ten riders who covered the distance of 1,300 feet in only five mintues. ‘Clunkers’, also called ‘paperboy bikes’ were what mountain bikes were called then. In the 1980s, this type of mountain biking became a popular type of competition among countries with skiing venues with steep slopes during summer. Custom mountain bikes came to be during the 1990s. The customizations were made up of customized framework, disc brakes, and dual crown suspension forks. In 2006, the normal design for suspension travel is 203mm or 8 inches. The change encompassed the necessity for better jumps common in downhill biking. They were designed for high-speed stability and control.

Full body armor, namely neck braces, full-helmets, and full body pads must be worn by all downhill mountain biking enthusiasts to protect against injury. Strength is an important factor in this sport. They must also possess aerobic and anaerobic fitness as well as mental control. Ideally, their downhill mountain bikes must have a weight of 16-20 kilos to qualify for this game.

A gravity assisted sport, downhill mountain biking events are largely time-trial feats. The race starts within 30 seconds, with riders racing against time at top speed. A typical race, from start to finish, is only about five minutes long. Ratings are meted out by downhill skiing apparatuses. High speed descents, avoiding obstacles, and daredevil jumps are common fare for this extreme sport. Downhill mountain biking is truly exciting yet fraught with some physical hazards.

While mountain biking is not a contact sport, safety is still one of its top priorities, hence the need for mountain biking pads as a means for protection.

While the basic mountain biking pads may include the bare minimum-elbow and shoulder pads, shin guards and the like, there is also a vast array of other specialty protective gear, the likes of which can also be found in several contact sports.

Using mountain biking pads help to reduce injuries brought about by accidents, more so when biking at high speeds or downhill. The materials which mountain biking pads are made of generally vary depending on the brand and the price, but they are mostly made out of synthetic materials such as foam rubber, polyurethane, fiberglass, and plastic.

Basic biking pads only offer a limited amount of protection for certain areas of the body, but this is fine for biking in the plains or for smooth terrain. However, in the circumstances where there is significant danger posed by the terrain, full-body covering is required which may consist of knee and elbow pads, shin guards, gloves, body-armor, and an impact-resistant full-cover helmet. While mountain biking pads ensure that you are protected from injuries resulting from falls, it cannot guarantee protection from fractures and the efficacy does vary depending on its make.

Available in nearly every color and design, mountain biking pads make use of Velcro adhesives for that guaranteed custom fit. Before Velcro was used to provide easier means to wear and remove mountain biking pads, laces and snap-fasteners were employed. Mountain biking pads that are made of hybridized material such as a combination of fiberglass and polyurethane or a number of other synthetics often require special care to protect it from inevitable wear and tear. Mountain biking is becoming a very popular hobby, resulting in the development of better versions which strive to excel in the field of safety provision.

Caution is required even though mountain biking is a generally safe sport, as it can still pose hazards to one’s life.
