Shopify has been around since 2004 and is now home to over 20,000 Internet shops. Businesses can commission Shopify’s services in order to set up some sort of a shop on their website, that includes features such as shopping carts, product descriptions, secure transactions and more recently, app stores, theme stores and advanced one on one support.

Features

Shopify is most well-known for its easy to use system and interface that allows you to manage basic sales. It does not have advanced features that tend to improve sales (such as wish lists and recommended products), but because of its basic simplicity it is very easy to integrate into many websites. Unlike many other online content management systems, Shopify uses an intuitive drag and drop interface which makes it easy to use for the person who just wants to get their products up as fast as possible for their clients.

Your very own storefront — Shopify will allow you to set up your own storefront using free and premium themes from their Theme Store. You can additionally edit them with HTML and CSS if you need to or just design them from scratch.

Easy to manage store — Add new products, accept payments, optional site hosting with SSL.

Over 50 payment gateways — This means that you will be able to receive payments from all of your customers online no matter where they are coming from, including PayPal and most major credit cards.

Other features — Dedicated support by email tickets or phone, iPhone app for running your store on the road, Shopify Analytics, edit your content, manage your orders and create coupons, promotions and discounts.

Pricing

Shopify comes with a free 30-day trial. While you may be tempted to do this, if your business does take off then you may as well stay with them. The pricing is very competitive and can offer a lot of advantages. All of the packages come with free setup and unlimited bandwidth.

Basic — $26/month; 2% transaction fee, 100 SKUs, 1GB storage.

Professional — $54/month; 1% transaction fee, 2,500 SKUs, 5GB storage.

Business — $90/month; 1% transaction fee, 10,000 SKUs, 10GB storage.

Unlimited — $160/month; 0% transaction fee, unlimited SKUs, unlimited storage.

All accounts also come with $100 Google AdWords credit and $100 Amazon Ad credit.

Pros

Shopify is a great system for beginners, but even if you are a professional at websites then you might pick this if you just want a simple system to administrate. On the other hand, if you do have your own experience setting up websites, or you hire a professional developer it is possible to integrate more complex, but useful features such as wish lists and recommended product lists that will allow your registered users to interact with each other more and suggest items to each other. Highly secure as well, Shopify will protect your clients and your business from fraud.

Cons

If you are a very small business then the fees and the commission might be too much. The other problem could be that you may lose sales as people will tend to browse other Shopify websites as well and potentially buy from your competitors. If this is a problem for you then you might like to consider a specially built webshop on your own domain.

If you are hesitant about delving into the topic of domain name registration, don’t be, because it is an easy process that any person who knows how to use a computer can be able to do. First of all, what is a domain name anyway? A domain name is a unique web address that web browsers use to locate websites. In other words, without a domain name, you could not locate a website using such names as Google, Bing or eBay. You would need to know the IP address of these websites, which is a bunch of numbers ( 162.195.21.1) most of which would not make any sense at all. Domain names are thus more descriptive and easier to remember as opposed to a bunch of numbers with periods between them.

The process of domain name registration starts by locating a registrar. There are hundreds of accredited domain name registrars online and a list of them can be found on www.internic.com/regist.html. Once you locate a registrar, there will be a domain name search tool on their website that you can use to first search for the domain name that you want. The purpose of doing a search is to find out if the domain name is available and if you can purchase it. Assuming that all goes well and you do get the domain name that you want, there are 3 more steps before you can completely claim ownership of the site.

First is to decide the number of years you want the domain name registered under your name. Different registrars will have their own requirements. Generally though, a minimum of 1 or 2 years is required. Registration can go up to 10 years. Depending on the purpose of the website, use your discretion to determine how long you want to have the domain under your ownership.

The second step is to choose whether you want the domain private or public. Public domain name registration is more convenient but less secure since it exposes your contact details, phone numbers and email address. Private domain name registration on the other hand is more secure but costs more and the process is a bit of a headache.

The last step in a domain name registration process is to enter your contact information. This includes the owner’s, administrator’s, tech person’s and the billing contacts. In most cases, all these have the same contact information, especially in public domain names. After the checkout process, you are ready to use your domain name after about 48 hours. Of course, you will need to build the site, host it and publish it onto a web server before it can be accessible online. See, its almost as easy as ABCD after you have done your domain name registration.

If you are looking for a web site host, you may be lost in the amount of information and options out there. It can be hard to know what to do and with whom to go when you are not even sure what you need for your new web site endeavor. Before you purchase space with anyone, make sure you understand what you need and what each thing means when you see what options you have. Many like to go with sites that are all about hosting unlimited bandwidth, but that can be tricky. Each site has their own idea of what unlimited may actually mean.

When you see someone hosting unlimited bandwidth, this should mean that you can have as much traffic as you can get and you will never have to pay more for it. Bandwidth is what is used when someone comes to your site. The host stores your site on their computers, which takes up memory. When someone clicks on your site, they essentially download that site from that computer (known as a server). This is what bandwidth means. If you have a lot of traffic, you are using a lot of bandwidth.

You are naturally going to want to find someone hosting unlimited bandwidth web sites when you look for a host for your new site. This means you will never be hit with a bill for bandwidth exceeding what you have already paid for. The problem is that though some sites claim that they offer are hosting unlimited bandwidth web sites, that is not always the case. They have a limit. They say unlimited because most people will never go over that limit, but if your site is successful, you just might. That is why you have to find out what uses the most bandwidth, and then find out which hosts are truly unlimited.

If you have a site that is mostly text and a few pictures, you may never have to worry about using a ton of bandwidth. However, those that have a lot of large pictures and videos can have problems with bandwidth. If you have interactive games or forums, those too can use up bandwidth rather quickly. No matter what you have, you are better off finding out who offers what and how much you are going to have to pay before you sign up with anyone for anything.

When you have decided it is time to find someone for hosting unlimited bandwidth for your site, you can look around online to see who offers this. You may have to take it one step further though, and call each host. They all have a customer service numbers. Use it. Call and tell them that you see that they offer unlimited bandwidth but you know that there are some restrictions with some web sites. They can then go over their policies with you. This way you know exactly what you are getting when you finally make your choice for your web hosting service.

1. IP Address From your ISP

There are two ways of getting IP address from our ISP (Internet Service Provider). First one is which you get from your ISP it is a static IP which you cannot change. And other way is by dialling the username and password provided to you by your ISP which you have to dial through your PC or Router to get an IP from your ISP. If you have been provided with the static IP For e.g. (24.213.45.122) then this cannot be changed else you ask for the other IP address from your ISP.

And the other one is which you get it from your ISP after dialling a correct Username and the password. This IP address is dynamically given to your dialling source whether a PC (Server or a gateway), a Modem or a router. I depends upon your network structure that what source you are using for dialling purpose. This IP address can be changed by restarting the connection again for e.g. (If you are using your wireless router for dialling then simply re-start your router or open the admin settings of your router and re-start the connection from there). In this way you can change your IP address provided to you by your ISP.

Note:-If you want to login to a proxy site and you are not able to login because you have already used the services from that site then use various IP soft wares to change your proxy settings of your connection.

Don’t ever fiddle with your ISP IP address otherwise your account will be banned in case of static IP address.

2. LAN IP Address

(a)If DHCP is not enabled

This IP address is provided to your PC by your LAN gateway. It is your local area network address provided to you by the gateway in case of servers or by your Home Router or Modem. It is your LAN IP. That depends on your router settings that DHCP is enabled or not. If DHCP (Dynamic Host Client Protocol) in your router configuration is not enabled then you have to enter the IP address in your PC/Laptop LAN card settings. The IP address you enter must be of the same series with your gateway’s IP address.

You can change your LAN IP any time by opening your LAN card properties then select protocol IPv4 properties here you can enter the IP Address(Should be of the same series as your gateway has), enter subnet mask, Gateway address(your modem’s or router’s IP address whichever is dialling), then comes Primary DNS(Domain Name Server) and Secondary DNS. Here you have to enter your ISP server’s address. You can get it from your ISP only.

(b)If DHCP is Enabled

If DHCP is enabled in your gateway (Router or Modem) then you need not to enter the IP address in your LAN card properties. IP address is assigned to your PC/Laptop automatically with the preferred DNS.
